Football 101
Football 101 Email Illustrations
CHALLENGE
While working at the BC Lions, I was tasked to create a set of email graphics for the Kidβs Club section of their email newsletter. These emails were targeted at kids to help them understand how the game of Canadian football works. They featured anything from game plays, uniform information, and even referee signals. I was given free-range on the illustration style, but it had to be easy to understand for children.
SOLUTION
I started the illustrations with a field-green background to unify all of them. The figures were all drawn with exaggerated proportions to make them look more like cartoon characters, and in the same style so that they could all work together if the necessity to mix-and-match ever came up. The information was then broken up into comic book-looking blocks, and kept the details as minimal as possible to make sure it could be easily understood.
